By using Hanzi King, you agree to use the app lawfully and understand the following conditions.

Educational purpose

Hanzi King is a self-study aid. Character meanings, pronunciation guidance, translations, stroke guidance, and study scheduling may contain errors or differ by context. The app does not replace instruction from a qualified Mandarin teacher.

Accounts and cloud backup

An account is optional. You are responsible for the security of your email account and password. Cloud sync is a convenience feature, not a guaranteed archival service, so you should export important learning progress from Settings.

XP, levels, missions, and achievements

XP, levels, mission rewards, streaks, and achievements are in-app learning indicators only. They have no monetary value, cannot be transferred, and may be adjusted if the progression system changes.

Custom content

You are responsible for drawings, notes, and other custom-card content that you create. Do not add unlawful, harmful, or sensitive personal information.

Premium purchases and subscriptions

Hanzi King may offer monthly or annual auto-renewing Premium subscriptions and, where displayed, a one-time lifetime purchase through Google Play. The checkout screen shows the final local price, billing period, taxes, and any trial eligibility before you confirm. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it through Google Play before the renewal date. Cancelling stops future renewals; access normally continues through the paid period. Trial offers convert to the displayed paid plan unless cancelled before the trial ends. Purchases, cancellations, refunds, payment methods, grace periods, and account holds are processed under Google Play’s terms and policies.

Use Profile → Hanzi King Premium → Restore purchases to restore an eligible purchase, or Manage subscription to open Google Play subscription controls. Premium access may be paused or removed when Google Play reports that a purchase is pending, expired, refunded, revoked, on hold, or no longer owned. Free learning progress remains available if Premium ends.

Third-party services

The app uses services including Google Play Billing, Firebase, Google AdMob, Android text-to-speech, and public learning-data providers. Their availability and separate terms may affect particular features.

Changes and availability

Features and learning content may change as the app improves. The developer may suspend or discontinue a feature when required for security, legal compliance, or service reliability.
